Applying to 2 airline credit cards..?

I'm trying to apply for 2 airline credit cards for the single trip. i.e. from IAD - LAX American (CITI) and on the way back LAX-IAD Continental(CHASE). So I'll be getting 2 one-way tickets with new credit cards.
Will there be any problem with this

These credit cards have crazy fees. I would only use an airline branded card if you're a frequent flyer.
