50,000 AT 24% in credit card debt. need to get out of.?

How much can I lower this by negociating with 8 creditcompanies. Any experience?
do not want to consolidate and pay. We want to pay off and close accounts - Cash only. I heard one person had 85,000 and got it lowered to 25,000.
